There are three second grade homeroom teachers, Stephanie Waite-Tranberg, Mary Stefansky and Tony Ducklow. English Language Learner teacher, Laura Grayson, and reading specialist, Judy Mitzuk also work with your child in second grade.
In the morning we begin our school day with morning meeting, mathematics, reader’s workshop and writer's workshop. At 11:35 we are off to lunch, and then out for recess until 12:25.
In the afternoon, second graders work with our BCE specialist teachers: Science with Mary Romoser, Technology with Kathy Ames, Music with Shirley Van Story, Physical Education with Scott Richards, Reader's Theatre with Sandy Terry and Art with Christine Mulligan. In second grade the students visit the Como Planetarium and frequently take nature walks in and around the nearby Battle Creek woods.
We are looking forward to a trip to the Children's Museum and to Valley Branch Environmental Learning Center in May. We are planning a very special drama/music performance to be held at the December Awards Assembly.
