Ms. Pierson, Mrs. Nelson and Mr. Hatlevig are the fourth grade teachers. We try to make children excited about learning.
We have adopted the Reader's and Writer's Program. Children are
encouraged to read everyday for 30 minutes at their current reading
level. They are asked to summarize each book by writing a response.
In
the writer's workshop program, they write daily about different genres
that the class is studying. We have exciting publishing celebrations
upon completion of their published piece.
We have the Everyday
Math series that we teach daily. There are a lot of wonderful activites
to go along with each unit-including games. The activities reinforce
the concepts that are being taught.
Another subject that is taught is the skill's block. This block entails grammar usage, spelling and cursive.
We
have monthly assemblies where students are given awards for their great
accomplishments. At these assemblies students show what they have
learned through performances. Parents are highly encouraged to attend.
