PTO Grant Guidelines: 2008 – 2009
 During the 2008 - 2009 school year, the PTO will be allocating money earned by fundraising through our grant program.  Staff, students, and parents/guardians are all encouraged to apply for funds for their projects.  The grant committee will review proposals and recommend appropriate projects to the PTO.  The PTO membership will have final approval through a vote of current PTO members.  Funding requests will only be considered during the grant periods, as defined below.  


Guidelines for Application
•    The proposed project must enrich some part of Battle Creek Environmental Magnet School.
•    Priority will be given to projects that are:
    ➢    environmental in nature
    ➢    multiple-use: can be used more than once by the same class or other students OR
    ➢    non-consumable: materials or equipment that will not be “used up” by the students
•    Funding is up to $2,000? per grant period; requests can be between $25.00 and $_________.
•    There are three grant periods: fall, winter and spring (see dates below).
•    Submit completed application forms anytime during the grant period—but no later than the announced due date.  Applications will not be considered outside of these dates.
•    Applications will be accepted from staff, students, parents/guardians and other individuals associated with Battle Creek Environmental Magnet.
•    Grant requesters must be willing to go before the grant committee or PTO meeting for clarification of the project if needed.
•    Purchases made with PTO funds will remain at Battle Creek Environmental Magnet School.  
•    Equipment or instructional materials purchased must be labeled “Property of BCEM.”
•    The Battle Creek Environmental Magnet PTO does not fund staff positions.

Grant Periods
I.    Fall Grant Period: October 6-20, 2008.  
Applications are due no later than: Monday, October 20, 2008
They will be reviewed and processed for approval at the November 10, 2008 PTO meeting.
II.    Winter Grant Period:  January 5-19, 2009.  
Applications are due no later than: Monday, January 19, 2009
They will be reviewed and processed for approval at the February 9, 2009 PTO meeting.
III.    Spring Grant Period:  March 2 – 16, 2009
Applications are due no later than: Monday, March 16, 2009
They will be reviewed and processed for approval at the April 13, 2009 PTO meeting.
