All students in grades 4-6 are invited to enroll in the instrumental music program prior to November 1st of the current school year. Students that have moved in to our Battle Creek Elementary School community from another system will have an opportunity to join beyond the November 1st deadline with instructor permission. Students are encouraged to explore options in the woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, alto saxophone, bass clarinet or bassoon), brass (trumpet, French Horn, trombone, or baritone horn), or percussion (drums and mallets both required) sections in one of the bands. Performance on a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or string bass) is also an option.
All students are encouraged to seek out local music retailers to investigate and obtain the instrument of choice. Required materials, supplies and equipment can be found at most retailers as well as repair needs and private lesson options. A listing of some retailers is available from Mr. Dahlberg upon request.
Students involved in one of these ensembles are required to attend concerts and special events throughout the school year. A performance field trip is usually planned for the Spring.
