| Welcome to Reader's Theatre!! |  | Ms. Sandy Terry is a Reading Specialist/Reader's Theater Director.
Reader's Theatre takes place on Battle Creek's stage. Student's learn
to improve their reading skills and comprehension through class
performances. A wide variety of acting strategies are used such as:
warm ups, team work, speaking, fluency, expression, and body language.
Reader's theater provides reading enrichment to students through the
use of a wide variety of scripts. Picture books, nursery rhymes and
Mother Goose tales for primary; folktales from around the world,
picture books, fables and myths are used in the intermediate and upper
grades. Group "read alouds" focus on choral/oral fluency and
expression. Comprehension, vocabulary development and creative
thinking skills are developed as students examine and portray what the
characters and scenes should "look and sound like". Older students are
encouraged to adlib where appropriate. All classes perform for other
grades at the end of each rotation.
